The Combat Overview and You

When in Combat, overview settings become a very important part of your continued Existence. Clutter will keep you from recognizing who is shooting you, and who you need to Kill.

So. Find a safe spot in space, and open up the options and get changing stuff.

First up, click the little arrow at the top of your overview, and then choose the 'open overview settings'
go to Filters tab
hit the deselect all button at the bottom, then go and manually click all the ships in the Ship dropdown
also check all the drones in the drone dropdown
I usually add stargates in as well, so I can travel where I need to easily
move to the States tab
Check only the following:
Pilot is as War with your corp/Alliance
Pilot has bad standing
Pilot has horrible standing
Pilot has neutral standing

now hit the arrow next to 'not saved' right above this tab
and save current selection as 'Combat' or something like that

now switch to your appearance tab
in the colortags section, put them in this order:
Pilot is at war with your corp/alliance
Pilot is in your fleet
Pilot is in your corp
Pilot is in your alliance
Pilot has High standing
Pilot has good standing
Pilot is Outlaw
Pilot has Horrible standing
Pilot has bad standing
Pilot has bounty

go to the background tab and put them in the following order:
Pilot is at war with your corp/alliance
Pilot is in your corp
Pilot is in your alliance
Pilot is in your fleet
Pilot has High Standing
Pilot has good standing
Pilot is an Outlaw
Pilot has Horrible standing
Pilot has bad standing
Pilot has sec status below 0

Almost there!
Columns tab, click Icon, Distance, Name, Type, and Transversal velocity (if you want). Uncheck all the others
Ship Tab, check Pilot name, and ship type, uncheck all others, especially the ship name

Last Tab, Overview tabs
Name one of them Combat, use the dropdown to select your shiny new setup, and hit apply, at the bottom

There, that's it. This overview will show up just reds and neutrals, so you don't have to worry about accidentally targetting your buddies or something.
